چکیده
Background: Midline incision provides excellent access to the abdominal cavity. However, wound infection following a laparotomy can increase morbidity as well burden on health care system. Wound prognosis be influenced by type of incisions, suture material and method closure. This study aimed assess outcome midline closure using two different techniques closure. Methods: was prospective observational consisted 300 consecutive patients ≥18 years age undergoing surgery through in emergency setting. Patients who were included then randomised into groups. In group I, closed with large tissue bites II small used. Results: Out this study, 150 subjected another bites. 29 out (19%) 16 (11%) developed surgical site (SSI). 23 50 (15%) 11 (7%) dehiscence. Conclusions: we found that whose laprotomy had better postoperatively terms dehiscence.

This fi nding contradicts what surgeons have thought and been taught for many de...
متن کاملSmall bites versus large bites for closure of abdominal midline incisions (STITCH): a double-blind, multicentre, randomised controlled trial.
BACKGROUND Incisional hernia is a frequent complication of midline laparotomy and is associated with high morbidity, decreased quality of life, and high costs. We aimed to compare the large bites suture technique with the small bites technique for fascial closure of midline laparotomy incisions. METHODS We did this prospective, multicentre, double-blind, randomised controlled trial at surgica...

Human bites of the face with tissue losses.
Human bites of the face are common in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Twenty-four such patients with tissue losses seen over a period of two years (1983-1985) at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital were studied. Women in their third decade of life seem to be most at risk; the lips and ears are most frequently bitten. Primary repair and administration of systemic antibiotics within 24 hour...
متن کاملIn-vitro evaluation of antibacterial potential of cyanoacrylate tissue adhesives for intraoral wound closure
Background: Cyanoacrylate tissue adhesives have been used as a substitute to silk for intraoral wound closure. Placement of sutures provides a corridor for accumulation of microorganisms into tissue which leads to infection. Cyanoacrylate-based adhesives exhibit many properties of an ideal wound closure agent, minimizing the problems generated by suturing thread. The antimicrobial properties of...
